LOUNGING WITH RAY - Ray Rasicot kicks off his 14th season at the Paddock
Restaurant, West Main Street in Hyannis, tonight. You'll be seeing him on
Friday and Saturday evenings playing the Hammond Organ (B-3) as well as
the piano. On Saturdays, he'll be joined by Mike Crocco on sax and clarinet for
pop classics and a selection of favorite show tunes.

April Madness at Writers '
Center
Forget March Madness. April is
shaping up as a whirlwind for the
Cape Cod Writers ' Center as it cel-
ebrates National Poetry Month.
Poets in the series include the
Cape's own Marge Piercy (April
11), 2005 American Book Award
winner Lamont Steptoe (April 25)
and the country's poet laureate,
Ted Kooser (May 2). Readings
are from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cotuit
Center for the Arts on Route 28.
Admission is $10.
Marchant will join the Center's
"Breakfast with the Authors" April 7
at 9:30 a.m. at Hyannis Golf Club on
Route 132, and return there on the
8th to teach a daylong workshop on
the meditational poem, the poetic
sequence, and the prose poem.
And for you youngsters in the audi-
ence (as Ed Sullivan used to say),
April 21 is the deadline for applica-
tions for the Center's Young Writers '
Workshop, to be held Aug 21 to 25.
The age range is 12 to 16.

The Marstons Mills Public Library
invites children of all ages to weekly

preschool through grade 2, crafts
included. Grades 4 through 7 are
invited to play board games from 4
to 6 p.m.

Eastham Public Library
The Eastham Public Library has
weekly storytime every Friday at
10:30 a.m. for children up to age 5. A
craft session follows. The library also
hosts a monthly "Magic The Gather-
ing" trading card game program for
ages 11 and up the first Tuesday of
each month from 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.
All are free, but you must sign up in
advance.

Barnstable
New show for Miller
Denton Miller 's latest photography,
"Elements 2006," debuts April 7 from
6 to 9 p.m. at Gallery 337 on Main
Street in Hyannis. Recently, Miller
won the 2006 Cape Cod Art Associ-
ation's Winter Member 's Show first
place in photography.
Cape Cod Art Association
The Cape Cod Art Association , 3480
Route 6A in Barnstable , is offering
courses in watercolor painting, oil paint-
ing, life drawing, digital photography
and more. The Association is accepting
student members ages 14 to 22 with a
membership fee of $15 a year, which
includes discounts on classes , newslet-
ter subscription and ability to exhibit
and sell work.
On April 8 from 9 a.m. through the
evening and April 9 from 9 a.m. to 3:30
p.m., the Association will host Bob and
David Singer's "Two Days to Better
Digital Photography." Admission is $225

invited to participate in a Student Art

Cape Cod Art Association's
Children's Art Classes include Art
for Mommy & Me (ages 2-3), offered

ings and afternoons; and Saturday

What's up at the Cahoon?
The Cahoon Museum of American
Art, 4676 Route 28 in Cotuit, offers
docent tours every Friday at 11 a.m.
Classes include Sailor's Valentine,
folk painting, watercolor, bird carving,
and more. An display of fiber art that
focuses on faces and figures is on
exhibit through May 14. Salley Mavor
discusses embroidery and assem-
blage. Illustrator Sally Mavor gives
slide lecture on her work April 11 at

Cotuit Center for the Arts
The Cotuit Center for the Arts,

and sculpture by Edmund Sullivan.

New visions in Truro
A new community art organization,
The Truro Group, features an exhibit of
works by 25 local artists through April
at the Truro Public Library off Route 6.
Opening night at Mayflower
Mayflower Place Retirement
Community welcomes artists Anna
Lowther and Kenneth Brynildsen of
Angelheart Gallery. Their works will
be on exhibit through April 27 at the
Community on Buck Island Road in
West Yarmouth.
Open studios and more
in Mashpee
Thursday and Friday mornings from
10 a.m. to noon, through spring, the
Art For Giving gallery, 27 Fountain St.
in Mashpee Commons, will hold open
studio time after which there will be a
gentle critique. Use your own materi-
als or the studio equipment. Admis-
sion is $12 to $18 and pre-registra-

2121. Ten percent of the proceeds go
to charity.
Art for Young People, ages 12 to
