RELIGIOUS NOTES
Noted musician returns for
concerts
England's multi-talented Peter Lea-Cox will
share his performance and composing skills dur-
ing two services and a concert at First Lutheran
Church on Route 6A in West Barnstable. He will
be guest organist and choir director at the 8:15
and 11 a.m. services on Palm Sunday April 9 and
will lead the combined choirs of West Parish of
Barnstable, St. Mary's Episcopal Church, First
Baptist Church of Hyannis, and First Lutheran
Church at an ecumenical Good Friday service
April 14 at 7:30 p.m. The music will include his
own compositions in the baroque style of the
18th century.
On April 21, Lea-Cox will be guest conductor
of Schola Cantorum of Falmouth in a concert
of early Portuguese and Flemish music at First
Lutheran Church in West Barnstable at 8 p.m. A
collection will be received.
Human rights awards brunch is
April 8
Corpus Christi Parish Center in Sandwich will
host Church Women United of Cape Cod's first
Human Rights Award Brunch April 8 at 10:30 a.m.
Brunch will be followed by worship and then the
presentation of awards to Pauland Carolyn Hebert
of CHAMP Homes, former Barnstable director of
community and human services Norma Holder
Hall, and Sarah Symons, founder of TEN (The
Emancipation Network).

Meditation offered for beginners
The Cape Sangha, a Zen Buddhist meditation
group, meets Sundays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at
the Old Schoolhouse on Route 6A in Barnstable
Village. All are welcome, and basic instruction in
meditation is offered to beginners.
Zen Center presents weekly
meditation
The Cape Cod Zen Center has weekly
meditation practice at the Unitarian Church of
Barnstable, Barnstable Village on Route 6A.
The Tuesday morning group meets at 8 for
meditation in the RE area downstairs. There is
meditation instruction on Fridays

at 6:40 p.m. in
the library and a Friday Evening Group meets in
the library, behind the sanctuary, at 7 p.m. for
meditation. There are also retreats,field trips to
the Providence Zen Center and monthly talks.

Bible studies for women in WB
The West Barnstable Community Center on
Route 149 is the location for a women's Bible
study, open to all women, Wednesday mornings

RELIGIOUS SERVICE
The Anglican Church of the Good
Shepherd
Worship services are held Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m. A healing ser-
vice is conducted on the second Wednesday of
the month, and a Bible study is held on the third
Wednesday. The church is at the Oakcrest Cove
Retreat Center at 34 Quaker Meetinghouse Road

Cape Cod Synagogue
Shabbat services are the first Friday of the month
at 7 p.m., all other Fridays at 7:30 p.m. and Satur-
days at 10:30 a.m. Shabbat dinner is served before
services on the first Friday of the month at 5:45 p.m.

Christ Chapel
Worship services are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with
Sunday evening worship at 6. Nursery care is
provided during all services. Sunday school is at

Mass is celebrated at Corpus Christi, 324 Quaker

Cotuit Federated Church
The congregation meets for worship services
and Sunday School at 10 a.m. The Rev. Diane Cu-
sumano, a Presbyterian minister, is interim pastor
of the combined United Church of Christ/United
Methodist church at School and High streets.
Faith Assemblies of God Church
The Rev. Richard Robedee will deliver the nam-
ing message at 11 with music by worship leader
Beverly Robedee. Christian education classes for
all ages begin at 9:45 a.m., and everyone is invited
to an evening of Bible study Wednesdays at 7 at
the church on Bearse's Way in Hyannis. The Part-
ners with Pastor Prayer Time is held Tuesday and
Thursday mornings from 7 to 8:25.
Federated Church of Hyannis
The Rev. Ellen Chahey preaches at the church
on Main Street at 10 a.m. when the Senior Choir
will sing. Child care is offered. A Maundy Thursday
service on April 13 is at 7 p.m.; the Good Friday
services are April 14 at noon and 7 p.m.; Easter
sunrise service, April 16, is at 5:45 a.m. outside
St. Andrew's Church in Hyannisport. The Rev. Dr.
Weldon Palmer leads the Easter service at the
church at 10 a.m.
First Church of Christ, Scientist
The Bible Lesson-Sermon will be delivered at
the 10:30 a.m. service. Sunday school is at the
same time. Nursery care is available for infants
and young children. Testimony meetings are held
every Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the church on
Bearse's Way in Hyannis.
First Lutheran Church
Sunday worship services at 8:15 and 11 a.m.
Education classes at 9:30 a.m. A coffee fellowship
follows each service. Child care is available, and
the church at 1663 Main St. (Route 6A) in West
Barnstable is handicap accessible. Holy week
services on Palm Sunday, April 9, at 8:15 and 11
a.m.; Maundy Thursday, April 13, services at noon
and 7:30 p.m.; Good Friday, April 14, services at
noon and 7:30 p.m. Peter Lea-Cox is guest organist
on Palm Sunday and Good Friday.
Kollel of Cape Cod
Erev Shabbat Family Worship services are held
at 7 p.m. each month by Kollel of Cape Cod at 150
Flint St. in Marstons Mills. A community Shabbat

Church
Morning worship is at 10, when Pastor Swanson
will speak. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9

One Light
A Center for Spiritual Transformation: An Inter-
denominational, New Thought Church, created
specifically for those who do not want to align with
any single spiritual tradition. Gatherings are held the
second and fourth Sunday of each month at the
Cape Cod & Islands Realtors Association Confer-

Osterville Baptist Church
Rev. Bradley Peterson speaks at both the
8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services. Nursery and
children's church available at both services. Bible
school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. Coffee is provided
at 10:40 a.m. in the gym. Signing for the hearing
impaired is offered at the 11 a.m. service. Nursery
and children's church are available at all services.
Wednesday prayer meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday
youth group is at 7 p.m. AWANA club for kids is

a.m. at Dowses Beach in Osterville. Other services

Our Savior Lutheran Church
Worship services and Sunday School are held at
10 a.m. with Bible studies at 9 a.m., both led by
Rev. Randell Bessette. A nursery is also provided.

Presbyterian Church of Cape Cod
Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. with a Sunday eve-
ning Bible study at 6 followed by Sunday evening
worship at 7:30. (Portuguese) Sunday school is at

college on Route 132. The Rev. Dr. Charles M. Win-

St. George Greek Orthodox
Orthos is at 8:30, Divine Liturgy at 9:30 and

St. Mary's Episcopal Church
Weekend services on Saturdays, at 5 p.m.,
the Holy Eucharist with organ; on Sundays, at
8 a.m., the Holy Eucharist, Rite I, and at 10

Health care for all?
State Sen. Terry Murray
was one of six legislators who
helped win House and Senate
approval of a comprehensive
healthcoverage billthat would
ensure that almost all Massa-
chusetts residents would have
some form of healthinsurance.
The bill combines a mandate
to citizens to pay for insurance
if it is not provided by employ-
ers, and requires employers to
contribute to covering their
employees. The next step is
Gov. Romney's signature.

Meeting to Restore the Rule
of Law April 20 at 7 p.m. at the
Redfield Auditorium of Woods
Hole Oceanographic Institu-
tion on Water Street. He'll be

Rep. Bob Barr of Georgia and

state ACLU.
The event will focus "on
widespread spying on Ameri-
cans by the National Security
Agency, the Pentagon and the
FBI, kidnapping, torture, se-
cret prisons and anonymously
held detainees," according to
a press statement.
