Richard C. Adams, 72
Centerville - Richard C. Adams,
72, died March 15, 2006,at hishome
after an illness with lung cancer.
Born in Lynn, he attended Lynn
ClassicalHigh School and served in
the Army during the Korean War.
Following his discharge, he was
employed at the Post newspaper in
Boston and then for the RdF Corp.
in Hudson, N.H.
He raised his family in Wakefield
and spent summersat hishome on
Cape Cod.
Mr. Adams later retired to Cape
Cod, where he enjoyed fishing,
boating and puttering around
the house. He enjoyed being with
his family, and with his two cats,
Scooter and Heidi.
Survivors include a daughter,
Pauline Riley; a niece; his former
wife, Louise Adams; and his com-
panion, Katherine Urquhart.

Ned A. Allbecker, 60
Hyannis - Ned A. Allbecker, 60,
died March 22, 2006, at his home
after a long illness with cancer.
He was the husband of Helen
(Murphy ) Allbecker for 31 years.
Mr. Allbecker was born in Cin-
cinnati, raised in Fairborn, Ohio,
graduated f rom Fairborn High
Schoolin 1964and attended Wright
State University in Dayton, Ohio.
He entered the Air Force in 1966
and served asanMP He was honor-
ably discharged while stationed at
Otis Air Force Base.
Mr. Allbecker worked at War-
ren Buick and for the Barnstable
County Sheriff's Department . He
retired from the department as a
captain after 23 years of service
in 2002.
He loved working in his gardens
and enjoyed classic cars and build-
ing boat models. He was also a
member of WYCC.
Besides hiswife,survivorsinclude
two daughters,Kathryn and Karen
Allbecker, both of Hyannis; his
mother, Ruth (Bauer) Allbecker of
Fairborn, Ohio; and several nieces
and nephews.
A funeral was held at West
YarmouthCongregational Church,
followed by burial in Cummaquid
Cemetery.

Mary Elizabeth Berrian, 91
Marstons Mills - Mary Elizabeth
(Wright) Berrian,91, died March 20,
2006, at Cape Regency Rehabilita-
tion Center in Centerville.
She was the wife of John Berrian,
who died in 2002.
Mrs. Berrian was born in Dwight,
111.,and lived in New York City and
Livingston, N.J., before moving to
Marstons Mills in 1978.
She was a member of Osterville
Baptist Church.
Shewasahomemakerwho enjoyed
gardening and bird-watching.
Survivors include two children ,
Jon of West Long Branch, N.J.,
and Donald of Topsfield; abrother,
John Wright of Hamden,Conn.;two
sisters, Jean Michaux of Colorado
Springs, Colo., and Lorraine Ives of
Cole Camp, Mo.; and three grand-
children.
A funeral service was held at
Doane, Beal &AmesFuneralHome
in Hyannis. Burial was in Mas-
sachusetts National Cemetery in
Bourne.

Vincent J. DeNisi, 83
Hyannis - Vincent J. DeNisi, 83,
died March 16, 2006,in Kissimmee,
Fla., after a long illness.
He was the husband of Michelina
(Bartolo) DeNisi for 62 years.
Mr. DeNisi was born in Boston
and raised and educated in East
Boston.
He was a World War II veteran,
serving in the Army Air Force with
the 303rd Bomb Wing in England.
He servedinthe militaryfor 39years
and had also been stationed at the
AirNational Guard Base in Bourne.
He retired in 1981.
He and hiswife enjoyed traveling
and cruises.
Besides hiswife,survivorsinclude
two sons,Richard J. and Ronald A.,
both of Florida; six grandchildren;
ninegreat-grandchildren;andmany
nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late
Robert V.DeNisi.
A funeral Mass was celebrated
at St. Francis Xavier Church in
Hyannis, followed by burial in Oak
Neck Cemetery there.

Pauline Maud Farnham, 96
West Yarmouth - Pauline Maud
(Norris) Farnham, 96, died March
21,2006,atMayflowerPlaceNursing
Center in West Yarmouth.
Shewasthe wife of the late Ralph
A.Farnhamfor 29 years and alsothe_
wifeof the lateW Leslie Newcombe
for 31 years.
She was born in Cambridge and
lived in Wellesley before moving
to Cape Cod. She was employed
by the Brookline Trust Company
for many years as secretary to the
president.
Mrs. Farnham was a long-time
resident of Osterville and Sarasota,
Fla. before moving to Mayflower
Place in 2002. She was a former
member of the Beach Club and
Oyster Harbors Club, and was an
accomplished needlepoint artist
and cook. She also was a lover of
animals.
. Survivors include two stepsons,
Frederic Farnham of Westport
and Henry C. Farnham of West
Barnstable , a brother, Albert Nor-
ris of Cupertino, Calif., and several
nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held
April 8 at 11a.m. at Doane, Beal &
Ames Funeral Home, 160 West
Main St. in Hyannis. Burial will
be private.

Charles S. Landry, 73
Key Largo , Fla. - Charles S.
Landry, 73, a Key Largo resident
since 1986, died March 7, 2006, at
his home.
He was the husband of Bonnie
Nelson Landry.
Mr. Landry was born in Somer-
ville, and raised in Everett.
After joining the Marines, he
became an MP and astaff sergeant
in the Korean War.He could speak
seven languages and was selected
for OSI duty. He was also a com-
manderinthe Marine Corps League
in Hyannis.
He held abachelor'sdegree from
Northeastern University and alaw
degree from Suffolk University
Law School. He taught school in
Burlington,where he also opened a
criminallawpractice before moving
to Hyannis.
Mr. Landry was an attorney and
counselor for the U.S. Supreme
Court and a judge for the Massa-
chusetts Supreme Court. He was
alsoaCape Cod CommunityCollege
board member. After retiring, he
became a court magistrate.
He was an avid fisherman ,
pilot , sailor and hunter. He
starred in Human Brain, produced
by BBC Television.
Besideshiswife,survivorsinclude
three daughters, Karin Landry of
Boston, Christine Kelly of Milford,
N.H., and Catherine Langtry of Sa-
lem,N.H.;two sons,Stephen Landry
Sr.of Woburn, and Brian Landry of
Burlington, a stepdaughter, Sheila
Larson of Brentonwood ,Tenn.;five
grandchildren; and many nieces
and nephews.
Services will be held at a later
date.

Ardena M. Manahan, 93
Centerville -Ardena M.Manahan,
93, died March 15,2006,at Pleasant
View Center, where she had been
recuperating from complications
of a heart condition.
Shewasthe wife of the late Julien
D. Manahan and the former wife of
the late Frank J. Lawrence.
Mrs. Manahan was born in Au-
gusta, Maine, and graduated with
honors from Cony High School in
1930. She earned a bachelor's in
education from the former Gor-
ham State Teachers College and,
in her 50s, received a master's and
certificat e of advanced studies in
education from Boston University.
She also studied art at Colum-
bia University from 1939 to 1940
and continued to paint and draw
throughout her life.
She began a teaching career in a
one-room schoolhouseinMaineand
retired from the Needham school
systemin 1979. Before teachingand
during summersand vacations, she
was a draftsman for engineering
and architectural firms, including
Bath Iron Works and the Maine
State Turnpike.
In the 1970s, she was secretary
for the New England Council of
English Teachers.
She recently spent much of her
time with her daughter, Rebecca
Lawrence, in Concord , N.H.
Besides her daughter, survivors
include a sister, Grace Perkins of
Portsmouth,N.H.;two granddaugh-
ters; and a nephew.
A graveside service will be at a
later date at Pleasant HillCemetery
in Sabattus, Maine.

John E. Mara, 84
Centerville - John E. "Jack"Mara,
84,died March 18,2006, at hishome
of congestive heart failure.
He was the husband of Rita E.
(Beals) Mara for 55 years.
Mr. Mara was born in Cincinnati
and moved in his youth to Quincy,
where he was on the North Quincy
High School track and football
teams. He moved withhis family to
Wellesley in 1940 and graduated in
1943from Boston University, where
he was a member of the varsity
swim team.
While at BU,he enrolled inOfficer
Candidate School. Upon gradu-
ating, he was sent to the Philip-
pines and served as a paratrooper
for the 503rd Parachute Infantry
Regimental Combat Team. He was
awarded the Silver and Bronze
stars, two Purple Hearts and the
Asiatic Pacific and American ser-
vice medals.
After his military service he be-
gan working for the Boot and Shoe
Workers Union, where he served as
president from 1960to 1977. During
that time, he met with presidents
Kennedy and Johnson. He also
earned anhonorary doctorate from
BU in 1969 and attended Harvard
University.
When his union merged with the
United Food &CommercialWorkers
Unionin 1977,hemovedto Washing-
ton, D.C. In 1982,he was appointed
secretary-treasurer of the Union
Label and Services Trades Depart-
ment of the AFL-CIO.
After retiring in 1988, he lived
in Centerville. He was a previous
resident of St.Louis,Needham and
Vienna, Va.
Mr. Mara was an avid reader
and was interested in history, lan-
guages and traveling. He enjoyed
time with his family, especially his
grandchildren.
Besides hiswife,survivorsinclude
( five sons, John J. of Avon, Conn.,
Timothy J. of Vienna, Va., Jeffrey
T.of Rockville Center, N.Y.,Robert
E. of Plymouth and Christopher
P of Worcester; and seven grand-
children.
A funeral Mass was celebrated
at Our Lady of Victory Church in
Centerville. Burial was in Mas-
sachusetts National Cemetery in
Bourne.

Michael L. Marchetti, 58
Hy annis - Michael L. Marchetti,
58, died March 23, 2006, at Cape
Cod Hospital, after a long illness
of cancer.
He was the husband of Maureen
"Moe" (Pessotti) Marchetti for 21
years.
Mr. Marchetti was the general
manager of CapeCod Package Store
in Centerville, and a communicant
of St.Francis Xavier Church aswell
as a Eucharistic minister.
He was a member of Ultreya of
Cape Cod.
He was a diehard supporter of
the Boston Bruins and the Hockey
Fights Cancer program through the
National Hockey League. With his
wife, he worked for several years
helping organize golf tournaments
to raise money for the fight against
cancer.
Besideshiswife,survivorsinclude
his mother, Gloria (Moulton) Mar-
chetti of Charleston, S.C.; a sister,
Michelle Gates, and a brother,
George Marchetti, both of Califor-
nia; and several nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.

Francis Xavier Church in Hyannis,
with burial in St. Francis Xavier
Cemetery in Centerville.

Barnstable - T.Mirjam (Raiskio)
Marshall, 74, a lifelong Cape Cod
resident, died March 11, 2006, in
Tacoma, Wash.
She wasthe wife of the lateMerle
Marshall.
Mrs. Marshall was born and
raised in Dennisport and graduated
from John Simpkins High School
in 1950.
She worked at numerous Cape
businesses as a clerk and book-
keeper.
Shewas amember of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints.
She enjoyed knitting and cro-
cheting.
Survivors include three sons,Pe-
ter Raiskio of Yarmouth,Raymond
Marshall of Hyannis and Richard
Marshall of Barnstable; two daugh-
ters, VickiMarshall of Tacoma and
Selma Cherry of Mashpee; and 10
grandchildren.

Rita L. Moda, 91
Hyannis -RitaL. (Henault) Moda,
91, died March 21, 2006, at Windsor
Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation
Center in South Yarmouth.
She was the wife of the late John
Moda. They were married in 1938.
Mrs. Moda was born in Taunton
and moved to Cape Cod in 1932.
She owned Hilltop Wool, where
she taught braiding and rug hook-
ing from 1958to 1965; Hilltop Park-
ing Lot on South Street since the
mid-1960s; and Hilltop Cottages.
She was a communicant of St.
Francis Xavier Church, where she
was an active guild member. She
was a Marion Medal recipient.
Survivors include a daughter,
Joanne McMahon of Centerville;
two sisters, Rosanna Mckenna and
Mabel Frates,both of East Taunton;
two grandsons; and several nieces
and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was
celebrated at St. Francis Xavier
Church inHyannis,and burialinthe
church cemetery in Centerville.
John J. Rosario Sr., 78
Hyannis -John Joaquim Rosario
Sr.,78, died March 19,2006, at Lahey
Clinic in Burlington.
He was the husband of Hilda M.
(Pires) Rosario for 50 years.
Mr. Rosario was born in Hyannis
and graduated from Barnstable
High School in 1947. He received
a degree from Milwaukee School
of Engineering in 1949 and was a
World War II veteran, servingin the
Navy from 1945 to 1970.
He was owner and president of
Acme Refrigeration , Willow Pack-
age and Arctic Ice Co.
An active member of the commu-
nity, he was vice president of Mid
Cape Jaycees, a member of the All
Cape Planning Board and Hyannis
WaterManagement Advisory Com-
mittee, and DPW commissioner for
the town of Barnstable.
Mr. Rosario was a member of
NAACR Cape Verdean American
Scholarship Committee and Demo-
craticTownCommittee.Hewasalso
afourth-degree member of Knights
of Columbus. He enjoyed flyinghis
airplan e,golfing, traveling, reading
and real estate development.
Besides his wife, survivors in-
clude two sons, John J. Rosario
Jr. of Marstons Mills and Edward
A. Rosario of Centerville; and five
grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated
at St. Francis Xavier Church in
Hyannis, followed by burial in
St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in
Centerville.
