HOWIE DOES IT,NOBODY KNOWS - The expresssion "get away with murder "
can be applied literally or figuratively. For the former, see James "Whitey "
Bulger, the elusive South Boston mob boss sought fruitlessly in a series of
killings; for the latter, try his brother, William, former president of the state
Senate, accused but never convicted of corrupt activities. Boston Herald
columnist Howie Carr tells their story in his book, The Brothers Bulger:How
They Terrorized and Corrupted Boston for a Quarter Century, and he'll talk
about it during a signing at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in the Cape Cod
Mall April 2 at 2 p.m. Do us a favor and ask Howie why they don't make
newspaper columnists like George Frazier anymore.
