Cape Cod Civil War Round
Table meets in Sandwich
Members of the Cape Cod Civil War
Round Table meet the first and third
Tuesdays of the month year-round
to present informal talks, give book
reports and share stories about visits
to Civil War sites. Gatherings take
place from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Riverview
School on Route 6A in Sandwich.

Free films in Hyannis
The Barnstable Senior Center, Route
28 in Hyannis, hosts free films ev-
ery few days at 1:30 p.m. Next up is
School of Life, the story of a teacher,
on March 13 followed by I Am David, a
young boy on the run from a Comunist
prison camp, playing March 17.
Movies at the Sturgis
Bring the family for free films based
on children's books Thursdays at 4
p.m. The setting is Sturgis Library on
Route 6A in Barnstable, and the juice
and popcorn are free. Ages 5 and

4Cs Foreign Film Series
returns
Check out foreign films this winter
at 3:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A at Cape
Cod Community college. The screen-
ings are on Tuesdays through May 9,
with a break on March 14. Breaking
the Waves , a love story of hope, plays
Mar. 21 then Artemesia , the story of
the 1500s painter, is on the screen
March 28.
Woods Hole film fest
Films from the Woods Hole Film
Festival will be featured in a series
of dinners and screenings this winter
at Cap'n Kidd's restaurant in Woods
Hole. Dinner is served from 5:30 to
7:15 p.m. with the film shown at 7:30
p.m. Admission is $25 per person and
includes dinner and the movies, which
play March 18; April 1, 15 and 29; and
May 6 and 20. For reservations, call

Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-
sion for the package is $15 or you can
order off the menu.

Concert band performs
A concert of dance music from
America and abroad is performed by
members of the Cape Cod Conserva-
tory Concert Band March 12 at 2:30
p.m. at the Marstons Mills East Horace
Mann Charter School. John Hagon

Kaya Trio to perform in
Dennis
The Kaya Trio of young musicians
perform March 12 at 2:30 p.m. at the
Cape Cod Museum of Arts, Route 6A
in Dennis. Admission is $12 to $15.
Sunday jazz brunch
Alan dinger and Rod McCauley
perform jazz from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
at the Barnstable Restaurant and Tav-
ern on Route 6A in Barnstable during

Band competition
Fifteen Cape Cod bands compete in
the WPXC-FM PIXY 103 competition at
Sundancer's in Hyannis. The next cuts
are March 10 and 31 and April 7. The
final cut is April 14. Some local bands
include The Grab Brothers, Whysky,
Lazarus, Five to the Face, Vapor Kiss,
Earthbound Misfits and others. Free.
Eilis Kennedy to sing
Traditional Irish singer Eilis Ken-
nedy will perform at Clancy's of West
Yarmouth, 175 Main St., March 27 at
7:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert are

Jared McMurray in concert
Pianist Jared McMurray performs
the works of Rachmaninoff , Liszt and

There's a Lenten organ concert with
David Chalmers and James Jordan

Old time swing
The Moonlighters 16-piece band

The First Encounter Coffeehouse in East-

On Golden Pond
The Barnstable Comedy Club in
Barnstable Village presents this come-
dy/drama about an elderly couple who
attempt to rekindle their spirit with the
help of their daughter's future stepson.
The play was popularized by the 1981
film version starring Henry Fonda and
Katharine Hepburn. Show dates are
March 16, 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31, and
April 1, all at 8 p.m. March 19, 26 and
April 2 will have 2:30 p.m. showtimes.

serves people 22 and under. Circle for
