Open studios and more
in Mashpee
Thursday and Friday mornings from
10 a.m. to noon, through spring, the
Art For Giving gallery, 27 Fountain St.
in Mashpee Commons, will hold open
studio time after which there will be a
gentle critique. Use your own materi-
als or the studio equipment. Admis-
sion is $12 to $18 and pre-registra-
tion is required by calling 508-477-
2121. Ten percent of proceeds goes
to charity.
Art for Young People, ages 12 to
18, is held Thursdays from 3:30 to 5
p.m. The fee is $12, and pre-registra-
tion is required.
Weaving exhibit in Brewster
The Weaving Network presents the
7th Annual Weaving Exhibit at the
Brewster Ladies' Library now through
March 30, featuring 21 weavers.
Works will be on display in the library
auditorium. An opening reception will
be held Sunday, including a spinning
and weaving demonstration, from 1
to 3 p.m.
Artists reception in
Yarmouth
Artists from Eastwind Gallery in
Orleans exhibit their work through
March 10 at Mayflower Place in
Yarmouth.
Falmouth Artists Guild
Classes offered this winter at the
Falmouth Artists Guild include acrylic,
oil, watercolor, drawing, portraiture,
pastels, digital photography, fiber and
more.
New exhibit at CCMA
As part of the 25 exhibits planned
for its 25th year, the Cape Cod
Museum of Art begins its showing
of Joseph E. Enneking (1881-1942),
a well-known regional impressionist
landscape painter, represented in ma-
jor museums. The exhibit runs March
4 to May 21
At Cape Cod Museum of Art
Classes and workshops for kids
include comic book design, drawing,
fun with clay, ocean art, watercolor,
monster making, art club and more
at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in
Dennis. Adult studio classes include
white line printmaking, 3-D assem-
blage, stained glass, composition and
color harmony painting, basic draw-
ing, enameling, and more. Roberta
Hurlburt exhibits assemblages of
found art through March 19. Cynthia
Packard exhibits ten new large works,
12 ft. by 12 ft., through May 7. Call
508-385-4477 for information. A trip
to Rhode Island to visit the Museum
of American Illustration and The
Breakers Mansion, with lunch at The
Clarke Cooke House, is scheduled for
May 11 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. $120
for members, $135 for non-members.
Registration deadline is April 28. The
museum is closed Mondays through
May 22.
Free March Admission
March into the Cape Cod Museum
of Natural History for free for the
entire month of March, Wednesdays
through Sundays. The only exception
will be evening programs for which
there will still be a fee. Come check
out the aquarium with the new and
rapidly-growing Moon Jellyfish and
the baby Diamondback Turtles.

An intergenerational program at
the Barnstable Senior Center, 825
Falmouth Road in Hyannis, meets the
first and third Tuesday of each month
at 10:30 a.m. when there are games,
crafts, refreshments, sing-a-longs and

Auxiliary
Members of the Cape Cod Hospital
Auxiliary Barnstable Branch meets
the second Thursday of the month at
St. Mary's Church in Barnstable Vil-

Camera club at art
association
The Cape Cod Art Association,
Route 6A in Barnstable, now has a
camera club. Meetings' are at 7 p.m.
every other Thursday at the CCAA
when there will be guest speakers,
critiques, contests, workshops, photo
sessions and more.
Group for youths
The Barnstable Youth Commission
and its Youth Empowered Through
Learning Leadership advisory
group meet at 2 p.m. every first
and third Thursday in room 2108 at
Barnstable High School when ages
13 through 19 are invited to discuss
issues affecting the young people of
Barnstable.
German-American Club
members meet March 12
Members of the German-Ameri-
can Club generally meet the second
Saturday at the Fraternal Lodge in
Centerville. The March 12 meeting
will feature a presentation on folk at-
I tire and customs from various regions
in Germany by Karin Gottier. The $8

The Finnish-American Society of
Cape Cod will hold its monthly meet-

Think spring with talk of
Baseball and Hyannis Mets
The Barnstable Newcomers will
hear Hyannis Mets general man-
ager John Howitt talk on his team
and the Cape Cod Baseball League
at its March 15 meeting. The club
welcomes all Barnstable residents
to meetings held the third Wednes-
day of the month at the Barnstable
Senior Center, 825 Falmouth Road in
Hyannis, at 7:30 p.m. Meetings in-
clude a speaker and a social gather-
ing. Annual membership is $8.
Contradances in Cotuit
A Contradance is held the second
Saturday of every month at Freedom
Hall, 976 Main St. in Cotuit, with live
music by John Alden & Friends. Be-
ginners and singles are welcome and
soft-soled shoes are recommended.

Osterville Men's Club
Ten scholarships totaling $10,500
will be awarded to members of the
Barnstable High School Class of

Society
The CCGS sponsors three work-
shops on advanced techniques this
spring. The March 4 session address-
es strategies for tracking down im-

6 writing the family history will be the

Dennis Public Library, 4 Hall Street
in Dennisport, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

contra dance
A traditional New England contra
dance will be held the fifth Saturday

their analysis of the festivities. The
