Help for the hard of
hearing
CORD's Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Independent Living program offers a
new service at Cape Cod Hospital and
Falmouth Hospital,video interpreting for
the deaf and hard of hearing who use
sign language. The Deaf Talk system
includesacamera,microphone,computer
keyboard, monitor and portable cart. It
has access to off-site sign language
interpreters who sign for the patient and
speak for the physicians. For details,

A new and innovative form of magnetic
resonance imaging is now available at
Shields MRI Cape Cod, 2 lyannough
Road inWest Yarmouth,providingawider
opening for claustrophobic and larger

head outside the machine.

in administation, direct family/patient

Mini-grants of up to $400 each were awarded to 39 Barnstable County teachers in 25 local schools ranging from elementary through high school
levels. Mini-grant recip ients were those who best demonstrated imagination and creative thinking for the benefit of the classroom as a whole
A sampling of programs are entirled as follows: "Integrating the Arts: Literature & Music ", "Zebra Fish Genetics", "Teaching Children to Care",
"Math at the Mall", "Explore Cape Cod through Guided Reading", "Peer Mediation Training ", "Robots at Work" and "Family, Facts and Fun".
These mini-grants are meant to defray the cost of materials and resources not normall y available throug h regular channels of school funding.
