L E G A L N O T I C E S L E O A L N O T I C E S and that the District raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000,00 for this purpose. ARTICLE 19. To see if the District will vote to annex certain territory and its inhabitants adjacent to the present District line on Phinney 's Lane, Centerville, as set forth in petitions to the District dated August 15 and August 24, 1948, si gned by H. Heyworth Backus and others, being a majority of the voters of said territory. ARTICLE 20. To see if the District will vote to appro- priate or transfer the unexpended balance of $1,884.38 in the Prudential Department to the Contingency Fund. ARTICLE 21. To see if the District will vote to amend the By-Laws of the District by striking out Section 1 of Article 1 of the By-Laws and inserting in its place the fol- lowing: "Section 1. The Officers of the District shall con- sist of a Chief Engineer, a First, Assistant Engineer, a Sec- ond Assistant Engineer, a Third Assistant Engineer, a Clerk, a Treasurer and a Prudential Committee of three members. The Chief Engineer, the Clerk and the Treasurer shall serve for one year or until their successors are chosen and qualified. Each member of the Prudential Committee shall serve for three years or until his successor is chosen and qualified . At the next annual meeting the First Assist- ant Eng ineer shall be chosen for the term of three years, the Second Assist tint Engineer for the term of two years and the Third Assistant Engineer for the term of one year, and thereafter upon exp iration of such terms of office each " shall be chosen to serve for a period of three years or until his successor is chosen and qualified. The offices of Clerk and Treasurer may be held by the same person. " I ARTICLE 22. To see if the District will vote to amend its By-Laws by adding thereto the following under Article 1 ol' the By-Laws : "Section 1. Nominations for district officers to be chosen by ballot shall be made by the filing of nomination papers witli the Clerk signed by at least leu persons qualified to vote in district elections at least thirty days prior to the meeting lo lie held for the election of i.ueh officers. ARTICLE 23. To see if the District will raise and ap- propriate $6,000.00 to build an additi on to the Osterville Fire Station. ARTICLE 24. To see if the District will authorize the Prudential Committee to contract with the Cape and Vine- yard Electric Company for lighting the streets. ARTICLE 25. To see if the District will vote to authorize the Prudential Committee to employ an outside auditor to audit the books of the Treasurer and the Water Department, or audited under the provision of Section 40, Chapter 44, General Laws, inserted by Chapter 82 of the Acts of 1948, for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1949. ARTICLE 26. To transact any other business that may come before the meeting. And you are hereby directed to serve this warrant by posting true and attested copies thereof at the two Post Offices and other public buildings within the said District eight, days at least before the time of said meeting. ARTICLE 8. To see if the District will vote to raise W and appropriate to the Board of Water Commissioners, the I .sum of $10,000.00 for Hydrant service for the current I financial year. J ARTICLE 9. To see if the District will vote to appro- priate, from the income of the Water Department, the sum of $19,000,00 to pay Water Bonds and Water Notes issued under the Water Loan Act of 1937 nnd under Chapter 44 I of the General Laws as may become due and payable during I the current financial year. ALITICLE 10, To see if the District will vote to appro- priate from the income of the Water Department the sum of $5,676.25 for the payment of interest as may become due and payable during the current financial year. ARTICLE 1 1 . To see if the District will vote to ex- tend about 2,250 feet of six-inch water main in Chequoquet Development , Centerville, and that the District raise and appropriate $5,000.00 and appropriate $2,500.00 from tho available funds in the Water Department Construction Account for the purpose of making such extension. ARTICLE 12. To see if the District will vote to ex- tend about 300 feet of six-inch water main on North Bay Road, Oyster Harbors, and that the District appropriate $1,000.00 from the available funds in the Water Department Construction Account for the purpose of making such ex- tension. ARTICLE 13. To see if the District will vote to appro- priate all present remaining available funds of the Water Department Construction and Operating Accounts to the Water Department Operating Account for the payment of Water Bonds, Water Notes and interest due and payable •luring the current financial year. ARTICLE 1 '4. To see if the District will authorize the Hoard of Water Commissioners to make extensions of two "ich pipe within the District as determined by them for the ensuing year, and will appropriate for this purpose the sum of $3,000.00 from the income of the Water Department Operating Account. Collins and George Stackhouse certain privately owned water mains, provided in each instance that easements be given to the District pro- viding for maintenance, repair, replacement and use of Aid mains by the District, and will appropriate for this purpose from the funds of the Water Department Operating Ac- count the sum of $822.11. ARTICLE 16. To see if the District will vote to appro- priate to the Board of Water Commissioners the income from the Water Department, the prior appropriations to he included and considered a part of that income, to defray all operating expenses of said Department and the water bonds, notes and interest of the District issued under authority of Chapter 169 of the Acts of 1937 and Chapter 44 of the General Laws, during the current financial year. ARTICLE 17. To see if the District will borrow and appropriate $60,000.00 for the development of new well fields, pumping station and equipment and the extension of water mains. ARTICLE 18. To see if the District will vote to install a water line from Bumps River Road south over Bay Lane to the Centerville Athletic Association 's recreation field , ""P" WAR RANT
