LENTEN SERVICES As the Rev. Walter J. Buckley announced , Lenten services began with the 7 a.m. muss at Our Lady of Assumption Church , Ash Wed- nesday. Ashes were blessed at this mass and distributed following the moss. Eveuing services Wednesday con- sisted of the Rosary, sermon and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The Friday Lenten serv- ices will begin at 7:30 p.m. witli the Stations of the Cross, followed by Behedictlon. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday during the Lenten sea- son, and daily mass at 7 a.m. MISSIONARIES TALK Missionaries Ono and Miriam Lahtinen gave talks at a meeting held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Anitl Jackson on Monday night . BIRTHDAY OBSERVED Albert Howe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Howe, celebrated his ninth birthday anniversary with a party. Guests were Parker Little , Robert Hallett, Gerald Delay, Nick! Niles. James Wright, William Jenkins, Harlow Huckabee, Lee Nute and Peter Stringer. Games were played with prizes being awarded to Ntckl, Jimmy and - Lee. Albert 's sister. Jacqueline, assisted Mrs. Howes at the party. PRAYER SERVICE Prayer service of the Buptist Church was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Crocker. CHAUNCEY D. PARKER News has been received of the death of Chamice . v D. Parker on Saturday. Ostervllle resident for many years, maintaining a beautiful summer estate here, Mr. Parker passed away in a Boston hospital. Funeral services were held Mon- day. February 23, at 2 p.m., at the Forsyth Chapel , Forest Hills Cem- etery, Boston. MEETING ON MONDAY The Osterville Village Associa- tion held a meeting Monday night when representatives of (lie Plan- ning Board and of the teachers' salary committee discussed zoning and teachers' salaries. The town warrant and a memorial for vet- erans was discussed. "DOLLAR" SOCIAL The Alliance of the Osterville Community Church held a "dollar " social at the Parsonage, with Mrs. Peter Patches, hostess. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Cecil Goodspeed , Mrs. Lawrence Lang and Mrs. Thomas Milne. Thirty dollars was cleared. Mrs. Freeman C. Adams entertained the group by readings from "Miss Boo.' A geography game was played. Mrs. Freeman Adams and Mrs. Frank Hansen Winning prizes of home made doughnuts. Tea uud home made cake was served the group. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. David Kittila and daughters, Martha and Marilyn, were recent guests of Mrs. Ktttlla's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Einnr Hum- punnei. of Middleboro. Miss Jean Conant has been spending the past week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Conant, Mr. and Mrs. James Shields,,Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Little were recent Boston visitors. COMMUNITY CHURCH Ash Wednesday—The monthly business meeting and luncheon of the Woman 's Alliance wns held In the parish house. Wednesday evening at 7:30 tho first Lenten service of the Barn- stable Protestant Church was held in the Federated Church , Hyannis, with Rev. Thomas Perdue of the Federated Church , Cotuit, speaker. The service of March » will be held In the Ostervllle Community Church with Rev. W. Stafford Scott , speaker.
