The Barnstable Youth Commission
and its Youth Empowered Through

Club meetings
The Barnstable Newcomers Club

Contradances in Cotuit
A Contradance is held the second

Ten scholarships totaling $10,500
will be awarded to members of the

Society
The CCGS sponsors three work-
shops on advanced techniques this
spring. The March 4 session address-
es strategies for tracking down im-

6 writing the family history will be the

Dennis Public Library, 4 Hall Street

contra dance
A traditional New England contra
dance will be held the fifth Saturday

The Barnstable Senior Center,
Route 28 in Hyannis, hosts free films
every few days at 1:30 p.m. Next up
is Must Love Dogs on March 3, the
story of young woman in search of
love. The March 6 film is Sky High,
the story of a teen who discovers he
has super powers.
Movies at the Sturgis
Bring the family for free films based
on children's books Thursdays at 4
p.m. The setting is Sturgis Library on
Route 6A in Barnstable, and the juice
and popcorn are free. Ages 5 and

4Cs Foreign Film Series
returns
Check out foreign films this winter
at 3:30 p.m. in Lecture Hall A at Cape
Cod Community college. The screen-
ings are on Tuesdays through May 9,
with a break on March 14. The Offi- •
cial Story is up next. Learn about the
Argentinean women's movement Feb.
28. Born Into Brothels , an intimate
look into the brothels of Calcutta, as
seen through the eyes of the children,
plays March 7.
Woods Hole film fest
Films from the Woods Hole Film
Festival will be featured in a series
of dinners and screenings this winter
at Cap'n Kidd's restaurant in Woods
Hole. Dinner is served from 5:30 to
7:15 p.m. with the film shown at 7:30
p.m. Admission is $25 per person
and includes dinner and the movies,
which play March 4 and 18; April 1,
15 and 29; and May 6 and 20. For

Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The

Hear the sounds of Brazil
From Villa-Lobos to Jobim and be-
yond, the Chatham Chorale will pres-
ent the music of Brazil March 4 at
