<§>Hybrid Humvees
Hybrid Humveesmay become acommon sight onthe battlefield
if the U.S. mililtary has its way. Both the Army and the Marines
are testing hybrid powerplants for its most popular military
vehicles in the hopes that one will prove itself durable enough
to be used in combat. The military is interested in hybrids for
both tactical and security reasons. The electric motor in ahybrid
vehicle would allow it to be driven silently at low speeds and
would also provide a source of electricity when none was avail-
able. In addition , the improved gas mileage could make military
vehicles less vulnerable to attacks because they would need to
stop to refuel less frequently.

<^>More Powerful Vette
Chevrolet is considering adding a more pow-
erful version of its Corvette. The company is
having a hard time keeping its Corvette Z06 in
stock and it knows that customers would like
a Vette that's even more powerful than the 50|»
horsepower Z06 it currently offers. There's no*»
word yet on what powertrain option Chevro- «
let might use if it does decide to offer a more jg
powerful Corvette. £
