Division 1tournament.
Glenn,ajunior,finished third
in the 215-pound weight class,
whileSanz, a senior,wasfourth

"Gonzalo and Alex both had a
chanceto beinthe (Division 1) fi-

Junior Mike Amick made the
tournament in the 171-pound
class but did not advance.
Glenn pinned his first-round
opponent but was caught on
his back and absorbed a rare
pinfall loss in the next round,
forcinghimtofight hiswayback
into contention from the losers'
bracket. When he reached the
match for third place, he found
himself faced with the same
wrestler who had pinned him
the day before, and registered
a 7-3 win.
"It just shows he's a better
wrestler," Magner said.
Sanz suffered a"gut-wrench-
ing loss" in the semi-finals,
Magner said, losing by a point.
ThecoachthoughtSanzearned
a better fate. He said Sanz
shouldhave been credited with
a two-point takedown in the
first round but wasn't, and lost
when his opponent received
two points for a comparable
takedownintheclosingseconds
of the match.
"Thecallswerenot consistent
in that match and that cost
him," Magner said.
Hoffmann "has the heart of
a champion," Magner has said
repeatedly in recent weeks.
"He's been putting it all
together," Magner said. "He's
onlya 10th
grader but he's been
beating some good wrestlers.
He'sbeatingkidsthat beat him
during the regular season. He's
peaking at the right time."
Amick lost his first match to
theeventualtournamentwinner,
then fell behind in his second
match 6-0,fought back to make
it 6-5 and nearly pinned his op-
ponent before time ran out.
"It was a good experience
for him," Magner said. "It'll
definitely serve as a stepping
stone for next year."
The Raiders were ousted
Wednesday from the state's
first-ever team wrestling tour-
nament in the South Sectional

"We fought hard tonight,"
