The
8th
annual Boatbuilders Show on
Cape Cod last weekend drew more
than 50 exhibitors from various or-
ganizations and venues and plenty of boat
enthusiasts. The show ran Friday through
Sunday at the Conference and Resort Center
at Hyannis.
The show featured custom and limited pro-
duction boats in wood and fiberglass. In ad-
dition to boat companies , exhibitors included
educational , environmental and historical
organizations , Cape Cod Sail and Power
Squadron , the U.S. Coast Guard , an interior
designer, a knot maker and even a booth on
river books.

assessed within any city or
town under the provisions of
this chapter shall not exceed
two and one-half per cent of
the full and fair cash valuation
in said city or town in any fis-
cal year."
Elsewhere, the draft com-
plaint states that , on Feb. 10, a
DOR employee told Lopez that
"the fire*districts are exempt
from Proposition 2 lh because
the law only applies to cities
and towns." That , according
to the complaint , confirms
the department's "role in this
conspiracy." *
The complaint argues that
the law's intent is that "the
six independent taxing gov-
ernments with the town of
Barnstable [the town and the
five fire districts] would have
to work together to ensure the
'net ' tax complied with the
law... "
