Ten editions of Benjamin Franklin's
Autobiography will be on view at
Sturgis Library on Route 6A in
Barnstable village through February.
The exhibit marks the tercentennary
of the birth of Franklin, whose unfin-
ished book went through a variety of
posthumous changes. The collection,
which was featured in Antiques Road-
show Insider, is owned by Renee and
Mark Roberts, proprietors of Roses
Books and the Clock and Rose Press
in Harwich Port.
Book sales in Osterville
The Osterville Free Library, 43
Wianno Avenue, holds a book sale
Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon and Feb.
4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Story times at the Cotuit Library

The Marstons Mills Public Library
invites children of all ages to weekly
story hours on Tuesdays at 10 a.m.
Also on Tuesdays, at 4:15 p.m.,
there is a story hour for children in
preschool through grade 2, crafts
included. Grades 4 through 7 are
invited to play board games from 4
to 6 p.m.

Eastham Public Library
The Eastham Public Library has
weekly storytime every Friday at
10:30 a.m. for children up to age
5. A craft session follows. The
library also hosts a monthly "Magic
The Gathering" trading card game
program for ages 11 and up the first
Tuesday of each month from 6:15 to
7:45 p.m.

Barnstable
Cape Cod Art Association
The Cape Cod Art Association,
3480 Route 6A in Barnstable, is offer-
ing courses in watercolor painting, oil
painting, life drawing, digital photog-
raphy and more. The Association is
accepting student members ages 14
to 22 with a membership fee of $15
a year, which includes discounts on
classes, newsletter subscription and
ability to exhibit and sell work. Jane
Eccles leads photo transfer work-
shop Feb. 11 and 12 from 9:30 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m. Artist members show

What's up at the Cahoon?
The Cahoon Museum of American
Art, 4676 Route 28 in Cotuit, offers
docent tours every Friday at 11 a.m.
Classes include Sailor's Valentine,
folk painting, watercolor, bird carv-
ing and more. On Feb. 3 from 5 to 7
p.m., there'll be an opening reception
(complete with alphabet soup) for
"The World of Words," new works by
51 contemporary artists celebrating
the love of reading. The show will be
up through March 19. All works are
for sale, with the Cape Cod Literacy
Council receiving 25 percent of the

Cotuit Center for the Arts
The Cotuit Center for the Arts,

and children in painting, life draw-
ing, mixed media, assemblage, hatha

Unitarian Church
A winter-inspired exhibit is on
display through January at the
Barnstable Unitarian Church.
Beads and baubles
Learn the art of glass bead mak-
ing at Leslie B. Spencer's Fine Arts

Barnstable art exhibit
A reception for an exhibit of paint-
ings, photos, decorative baskets,
furniture, bowls and more created by
members of the community is held
Feb. 5 at the Barnstable Unitarian
Church after the 9 a.m. service.
Cape Cod Conservatory
Registration is open for the Cape
Cod Conservatory Fine and Perform-
ing Arts classes. Programs offered
include studio art classes, an instru-
ment sampler for young children,
"Broadway for Girls," "Art in the
Afternoon," monotype, drawing and

The Society of Cape Cod Crafts-
men is now accepting applications
for membership in the organization.

Open studios held in
Mashpee
Thursday and Friday mornings from
10 a.m. to noon, through spring, the
Art For Giving gallery, 27 Fountain St.
in Mashpee Commons, will hold open
studio time after which there will be a
gentle critique. Use your own materi-
als or the studio equipment. Admis-
sion is $12 to $18 and pre-registra-
tion is required by calling 508-477-
2121. Ten percent of proceeds goes
to charity.

New at Cape Cod
Museum of Art
Fall classes and workshops for kids
include comic book design, drawing,
fun with clay, ocean art, watercolor,
monster making, art club and more
at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in
Dennis. Adult studio classes include
white line printmaking, 3-D assem-
blage, stained glass, composition
and color harmony painting, basic
drawing, enameling, and more. Paul
Schulenburg and John Grillo exhibit
through Feb. 26 in celebration of the
museum 's 25th anniversary. Roberta
Hurlburt exhibits assemblages of
found art through March 19. Jane
Lincoln displays her cranberry bog
paintings through Feb. 19. Prints by
Will Barnet can be seen through Feb.

25th anniversary, there will be free

meeting
Members of the Cape Cod Genea-
logical Society meet for an all-day
workshop Jan. 28 at the Brewster La-
dies' Library, Route 6A in Brewster, at
9 a.m., to learn more about the use
of computers for genealogy research.
Camera club at art asso-
ciation
The Cape Cod Art Association,
Route 6A in Barnstable, now has a
camera club. Meetings are at 7 p.m.
every other Thursday at the CCAA
when there will be guest speakers,
critiques, contests, workshops , photo
sessions and more.
Group for youths
The Barnstable Youth Commission
and its Youth Empowered Through
Learning Leadership advisory
group meet at 2 p.m. every first

Barnstable High School when ages
13 through 19 are invited to discuss
issues affecting the young people of
Barnstable.
German-American Club
members meet
Members of the German-American
Club generally meet the second Sat-
urday at the Fraternal Lodge in Cen-

Barnstable Newcomers
Club meetings
The Barnstable Newcomers Club
welcomes all Barnstable residents
to meetings held the third Wednes-
day of the month at the Barnstable
Senior Center, 825 Falmouth Road in

clude a speaker and a social gather-
ing. Annual membership is $8.
Contradances in Cotuit
A Contradance is held the second
Saturday of every month at Freedom
Hall, 976 Main St. in Cotuit, with live
music by John Alden & Friends. Be-

soft-soled shoes are recommended.

Ten scholarships totaling $10,500
will be awarded to members of the
Barnstable High School Class of
