Club meetings
The Barnstable Newcomers Club

Contradances in Cotuit
A Contradance is held the second
Saturday of every month at Freedom

The Barnstable Senior Center,

ings Monday and Friday afternoons
at 1 p.m. Free. The Jan. 20 film is
Bewitched, the remake of the '60s
sitcom. On Jan. 23 Meet Joe Black,
a romantic fantasy, is on screen;
then on Jan. 27 The Greatest Game
Ever Played, a true story of an upset
victory that changed the sport of
golf, is shown. Renee Zellweger and
Catherine Zeta-Jones star in Chicago
on Jan. 30.
Woods Hole film fest
Films from the Woods Hole Film
Festival will be featured in a series
of dinners and screenings this winter
at Cap'n Kidd's restaurant in Woods
Hole. Dinner is served from 5:30
to 7:15 p.m. with the film shown
at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $25 per
person and includes dinner and the
movie. On Jan. 22, see the feature-
length drama Pearl Diver, abut two
sisters who reconcile 20 years after
their mother is murdered. On the
28th, there's a double feature- Other
People's Pictures, about collectors of
abandoned snapshots and Packrat ,
a personal look at a family's obses-

Weekly films and food
The Island Merchant, 10 Ocean St.
in Hyannis, has screenings of popular
films every Tuesday evening. Food
and drink samples related to the film
are served on the side at 7 p.m. The
screenings are at 7:30 p.m. Admis-

new and original plays are presented.

readings are at 8 p.m. Jamie Pachi-
no's Splitting Infinity, the story of an
astrophysicist who decides to prove
or disprove the existence of God, is
slated for Jan. 20 and 21. Jan. 22
and 28 the reading will be of John
Kolvenback's On An Average Day, the
dark comedy of two brothers reunited
after 23 years. Admission is $35 for
dinner and the reading. Subscription
