Worship services are held Sunday
at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school begins at
9:15 a.m. A healing service is con-
ducted on the second Wednesday of
the month, and a Bible study is held

The Partners with Pastor Prayer Time
is held Tuesday and Thursday morn-

Hyannis
The Rev. Dr. L. Weldon Palmer
preaches at the church on Main Street
at 10 a.m. The Senior Choir performs
along with the Youth Choir and the
Bell Choir. Child care is offered at the
10 a.m. service.
? First Church of Christ,
Scientist
The Bible Lesson-Sermon will be de-
livered at the 10:30 a.m. service. Sunday
school is at the same time. Nursery
care is available for infants and young
children. Testimony meetings are held
every Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the
church on Bearse's Way in Hyannis.
? First Lutheran Church
Pastor Jonathan Ahnquist invites
all to join Sunday worship services at
8:15 and 11 a.m. A coffee fellow/ship
follows each service. Child care is

St. (Route 6A) in West Barnstable is
handicap accessible.
? Kollel of Cape Cod
Erev Shabbat Family Worship ser-
vices are held at 7 p.m. each month
by Kollel of Cape Cod at 150 Flint St.
in Marstons Mills. A community Shab-

Cape Cod
Sunday worship is at 10 a.m. with
a Sunday evening Bible study at 6

across from the community college
on Route 132. The Rev. Dr. Charles
M. Wingard is the pastor and the Rev.

? St. George Greek Orthodox
Orthos is at 8:30, Divine Liturgy at
9:30 and Sunday School at 10 a.m.

angel Orthodox Christian
Church
Divine Liturgy and Sunday school
are held Sundays at 10 a.m. All servic-

? St. Peter's Church
The Eucharist is celebrated in the
church, 421 Wianno Ave. in Osterville,
Sundays at 8, 9:15 and 11 a.m. Chil-
dren are welcome at the 9:15 service.
Sunday School is held from 9 to 10
a.m. There is a coffee in the church
hall after the 9:15 service. Baby sitting
for younger children is available. The
Rev. Tim Cherry, rector, is assisted
by the Rev. Gene Goetchius, retired
Scripture professor, and the Rev. Paul
Thompson.
? Seventh Day Adventist
Church
The SDA Church runs the Bay-
berry Christian School for elementary
grades. Separate'Sabbath School
Bible studies are held for children and
adults at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday
followed by Worship Service at 10:50
a.m. On the first and third Sabbaths
of each month, a potluck dinner is of-
fered following the service. Wednesday
night Prayer Meetings are held at 7.
The SDA church is pastored by Pastor
Mark Gagnon, 2736 Falmouth Road,

? South Congregational
Church
Worship is held at 10 a.m. in Center-
ville. Church school for children in pre-
school through 8th grade is available
and the Cokesbury Exploring Faith
Curriculum is followed. Nursery care
during the worship hour is available.
A coffee hour follows the service. The
Sunday morning Adult Education and
Conversations group meets at 9 with
Women 's Fellowship. The church offers
adult and family choirs.
? Unitarian Church of
Barnstable
The Rev. Dr. Kristen L. Harper
conducts the 9 and 11 a.m. services at
the church on Route 6A in Barnstable
Village. Her topic will be "Justice,
Equity or Fairness." The religious edu-
cation program is held at 11 a.m. Child
care is provided. All are welcome to
join the social hour after the services.
? United Methodist
Church
Worship services are held at 57 Pond
St. in Osterville at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
Coffee hour follows. Nursery care and
Sunday school are offered during both
services. Bible study at 7:45 a.m.
? Unity Church of the
Light
All are welcome at the service at 10
a.m. in the Yarmouth Senior Center, 578
Forest Road in South Yarmouth, when
the Rev. Steve Carty Cordry speaks.
Sunday School at most services;

stable
The Rev. Reed Baer preaches at
West Parish of Barnstable (United
Church of Christ), located in the 1717

ZRELIGIOUS SERVICES ~
? NAACP sets MLK
events
Michael Van Leesten, director of
public affairs for the Mashantucket
Pequot Indian tribe, will speak at
the NAACP's celeration of the Rev.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday
Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Federated
Church of Hyannis on Main street.
The service will be preceded by
a community march that will step
off at 2 p.m. from the South Street
parking lot next to town hall and
end at the church.
y Zion Union to host
MLK observance
Attorney Deval Patrick, former
U.S. assistant attorney general for
civil rights, will speak Sunday at
7 p.m. at Zion Union Church on
North Street in Hyannis. The candi-
date for governor will help mark the
anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr.'s birth as part of
a worship service hosted by The
Black Ministerial Alliance of South-
eastern Massachusetts. As a young
child, Patrick heard King speak in a
park on Chicago's South Side.
y Hebrew classes open
to Jewish community
The Cape Cod Synagogue is
offering free classes in basic He-
brew as part of the continent-wide
campaign, Read Hebrew America,
Wednesday evenings beginning
Jan. 18 at 6:30. The course being
offered at the synagogue, 145 Win-
ter St. in Hyannis, is the Hebrew
Reading Crash Course Level II. For

? Meditation offered for
beginners
The Cape Sangha, a Zen Buddhist
meditation group, meets Sundays from
4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Old Schoolhouse
on Route 6A in Barnstable Village. All
are welcome, and basic instruction in
meditation is offered to beginners.
? Zen Center presents
weekly meditation
The Cape Cod Zen Center has
weekly meditation practice at the
Unitarian Church of Barnstable,
Barnstable Village on Route 6A.
The Tuesday morning group meets
at 8 for meditation in the RE area
downstairs. There is meditation
instruction on Fridays at 6:40 p.m.
in the library and a Friday Evening
Group meets in the library, behind
the sanctuary, at 7 p.m. for medita-
tion. There are also retreats, field
trips to the Providence Zen Center
