Magic trading card game
meetings
Ages 11 and up are invited to the Eastham
Public Library the first Tuesday of each month from
6:15 to 7:45 to play, watch or learn Magic- The
Gathering trading card game. For information call

New programs at the Boys &
Girls Club
The Boys & Girls Club in Mashpee is open Monday
through Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. Teen nights are held
each Wednesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. and every
Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. Additionally, the club is
open every Saturday as well during vacation weeks.
Offerings include photography, homework tutoring
and help, horseback riding, lacrosse, a goal-setting
program, karate, basketball, dance, computer, career
prep, healthy living and much more. A satellite Boys
& Girls Club for grades 7 through 12 is now open at
MashpeeHigh Schoolwherethere iscomputer support,
games, tutoring SAT and MCAS prep and much more
available. Membership is $15 for the year.
YMCA activities
The YMCA of Cape Cod has immediate openings
at several childcare locations, including one in West
Barnstable, where swim classes are included. For

Legal clinic for women
Women are invited to attend a free legal clinic
Jan. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. when elder law and real
estate will be discussed. Another session follows
from 1 to 3 p.m. when family law will be discussed.
Both sessions are held at WE CAN , 537 Main St.

Learn to fling!
The Callanish School of Celtic Arts leads begin-
ning lessons in Highland Dance and Scottish Step
Dance Monday afternoons at the West Barnstable
Community Building on Route 149 and at the First
Congregational Church of Yarmouthport on Route
6A on Wednesday afternoons. Ages 4 and up are

Programs at children's
museum
The Cape Cod Children's Museum, 577 Greai
Neck Road South in Mashpee, is holding several
classes this winter. Among the offerings is Toddler
Time, Pre-K Prep, Infant Time. Down on the Farm,
American Red Cross Babysitting, Story and Craft
Hour, more. Illustrations for the Eight Nights of Cha-
nukkah book by Elivia Savadier will be on display
through Jan. 30. An 8-week Creative Arts Therapy
program is offered beginning Jan. 18 at 4 p.m.
Parent-child interactive , the program offers all an
opportunity to explore a different therapeutic activity

Rover Dog to the rescue
Homes for Barnstable County area pets can be
found via the Internet with the help of Rover Dog
Rescue in Buzzards Bay, the MSPCA in Centerville,
and People for Cats in West Falmouth, all of whom
have joined Petfinder.com . the oldest and largest

Foster and adoptive families
needed
Social workers and local foster parents are present
the fourth Thursday of every month from noon to 1
p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. at the state Department of Social
Services. 32 Commercial St. in South Yarmouth,
to discuss foster parenting and adoption. Those
interested should stop by or call 508-771-1727.
Coffee and an open mic
The YMCA of Cape Cod's coffeehouse for teens
at Camp Lyndon in Sandwich will be held the second
and fourth Saturday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m.
Featured activities include an open mike, musicians,
dancing, an art gallery, poetry readings and more.
Teens are welcome to perform or just hang out.

Cross Wildflower Garden.
•Jan. 10: Explore nature through watercolor from
9:30 to noon each Tuesday. Bring your supplies.
• Jan. 13: Story telling and puppet making will
be offered to ages 4 to 8 and 9 to 12 between 10
a.m. and noon.
•Jan. 14: Celebrate Thornton W. Burgess's 132nd
birthday with a special story time at 10:30 a.m., when
there will be a live animal presentation as well as
birthday cup cakes , a visit from Peter Rabbit and
other surprises.
• Jan. 16 and 18: Workshops exploring science
and literature connections will be conducted for
educators in pre-kindergarten through grade 4 from
