Norris joined the administration at Cape Cod Community College this semester as vice president for finance and administration. She serves as chief financial officer and oversees facilities management , public safety and information technology departments. Time change on anti- bullying session A presentation by the Massa- chusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State College on its anti-bullying program will be held Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Knight Lecture Hall at Barnstable High School. Par- ents of middle school and high school students are invited to attend this session, which was previously schedule to start at 6:30 p.m. Artful awards From supporting first grader 's field trips to the zoos inNewBed- ford or Providence to helping to create a professional art gallery in the main lobby at Barnstable High School, the Enoch T. Cobb Trust has made another round of classroom enrichment grants. Trustee David B. Cole gave the school committee an update on the activities of the Trust Tues- day, detailing $36,250 in grants for this school year and noting that more awards may be made before its end. Cole shared letters of ap- preciation he 's received from students, including those from two Hyannis East Elementary third graders who'd been to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and disagreed strongly about the merit of Jackson Pollock's work. Scholarship fund reaches $100,000 The Jason A. Fedele Cape &Is- lands Memorial Scholarship has awarded $100,000 in scholarships to Cape and Islands students. Among this year'sseven winners were Barnstable High School's Ashlee McGuire , who is going to Quinnipiac College and Allison Cobb, who is going to the Uni- versity of New Hampshire. Garden Club has scholarship The Garden Club of Hyannis is offering scholarships for the Class of 2006 in the amount of $1,000 to BarnstableHigh School and $1,000 to Cape Cod Regional Technical High School. Eligible students are those planning a career in horticul- ture, landscape design, forestry, conservation , environmental science, or related fields. Guidance departments at both schools have applications , which must be submitted by March 24. Athens v. If you do two hours of volunteer work each month , e.g., drive an invalid to the hospital for treatment , baby sit , assist with yard work , etc., you can purchase food packages at a discount. For $19 a month you can qualify for a family meal plan that includes meats, veg- etables, fruits and starches or you can purchase a meat- only package for just $12. Holiday food baskets , which include an 8- to 10-pound turkey and all the fixings , are also available at reasonable prices Cape Codders who qual- ify for food stamps , Social Security Insurance , Medic- aid/MassHealth , veterans benefits , or fuel assistance , you may be eligible for dis- counted rates on your util- ity bills , as well as a Verizon telephone discount of $13.85 a month.
